What is your job at CampusLIVE?
I am a Graphic Designer living on Design Island. I use Photoshop and Illustrator to create beast challenge designs, using my BFF Wacom tablet.
What brought you to CampusLIVE?
The opportunity to be truly creative in my everyday work. I have the freedom to design what I want, and push the envelope as far as I can. Not many people can say that.
Do you have any favorite stories from your work life?
About a week or two before I started working here, I came to the Christmas Party. I walked in to see a roaring fire on a flatscreen that was roped up to a ladder, hanging above a table stocked with the best, and Ryan jumping around in the best ugly Christmas sweater I have ever seen. To sum up, I got a small preview of what life as a CampusLIVE'er would be like, and the awesome turn my career was about to take. I was giddy.
Why do you come to work in the morning?
I love to design, and being able to design what I want to is something I am very fortunate to be able to do. And most of the time, I'm damn proud of what I create. I look forward to the next challenge, and I look forward to seeing all the people that make CL such a great environment to be in. We work hard and we play harder. Who wouldn't get excited about that every morning?
What advice would you give someone who is interested in pursuing a similar line of work?
Meet with as many people as you can to help you get your foot in the door, and keep those relationships strong. The design world is small, especially in the Boston area, so connections are all over the place. And when it comes to your portfolio, quality trumps quantity.
What is the best part of working at CampusLIVE?
Definitely the people and the culture. It's amazing to work for a company where everyone is truly dedicated to its success. Everything we do counts towards making CampusLIVE better for our users, and ultimately better for ourselves. We really are a family; a sarcastic, hilarious, ping-pong playing family.
What's the coolest thing you've accomplished thus far working at CampusLIVE?
Having the ability to collaborate with the other designers and content creators on a level way beyond what I was able to do before. The amount of talent buzzing around here is spectacular, and we take full advantage of that. We use each other as resources, constantly turning our computer screens around to show our work and ask for suggestions since each of us bring something new and different to the table. Emily, Ash and I actually created a challenge by each designing a different element of it, and it's one of the best I've seen yet.
