What is your job at CampusLIVE?

Content Associate: I create the challenges for the peoples. This involves brainstorming challenge ideas; researching and writing out the copy for trivia; building out timed quizzes and "drag and drop" surveys; and collaborating with our awesome designers to ensure that our challenges are cohesive and tell a story.

What brought you to CampusLIVE?

The MBTA's Red Line. Also: destiny, the promise of morning mimosas, and a desire to work for a startup where I could put my wordsmithing skills to good use. CampusLIVE employees are encouraged to be creative. Instead of hearing a lot of "that won't work," or "no," you hear a lot of "let's give it a try!" That dedication to exploring new ideas really stood out to me.

Do you have any favorite stories from your work life?

The first time I played foosball at the office I lost 10-0. Seriously, I was shut out. Piece of advice: never challenge a European to a game of foosball. Other favorite story: shooting pics with the product team for a Dunkin Donuts campaign. I got to don a Bruins jersey and feed Bobby Orr an iced coffee. I felt that we spread cheer throughout the North End of Boston that day.

What does the typical day look like for you?

Coffee. Build challenges. Coffee. Build Challenges. Lunch break. Build Challenges. Coffee. Build Challenges. Lose to Jay at ping pong. Coffee. Build Challenges. Beat Angela at ping pong. Celebrate. Build Challenges. Building challenges entails a variety of different things, including pouring through online resources to find fun/funny/informative facts for trivia; writing out trivia questions and other challenge-related copy; scouring Google Image Search and YouTube for relevant pics and vids; and putting everything together in the Admin Panel.

Why do you come to work in the morning?

Peer pressure. Everyone else at the office comes to work in the morning. Also, I love what I do and my co-workers are the bee's knees. No joke: I got to sleep thinking about CampusLIVE challenges, then I dream about challenges, and then I wake up and think more about challenges. If I didn't have work in the morning, I'd go crazy.

What lessons has your work life taught you?

Don't challenge Europeans at foosball. Bring your A game every day of the week. Share your ideas, no matter how ludicrous they may seem. Talk to your coworkers when you're stuck on something: a company is a team, we're all in this together (and I mean that in a good way, not like we're all stuck on the Titanic together.)

What advice would you give someone who is interested in pursuing a similar line of work?

If you're currently doing something you hate, stop. If you want a content creation position with a killer startup, pursue it with full force. Also, start a blog and have fun with it: write about topics you love.

What is the best part of working at CampusLIVE?

The fame. The glory. The people. The work environment. The hamster. The ping pong table. Also, being able to bring my ideas to life using the killer challenge steps from the dev team and the awesome design work from the design team.

What's the coolest thing you've accomplished thus far working at CampusLIVE?

'80s Hair Band Challenge. It was one of my first challenges... and it rocked.
