What is your job at CampusLIVE?

As VP of Engineering at CampusLIVE, my job means coding and helping other coders to do the best job. As our team grows, so does the need for engineering resources to continue to build out products that users enjoy. My job is organizing that chaos and producing the best products possible.

What brought you to CampusLIVE?

The startup life style was the initial draw. Over time it's become more and more about the team for me personally. I greatly enjoy working with the team we've come to build over the past few years.

Do you have any favorite stories from your work life?

Sleeping in the Amherst office my first summer. I was fresh out of school and didn't have an apartment until September. I was just joining the company and the startup life style, being in an un-air conditioned office 24 hours a day was a fun way to get acquainted with both.

What does the typical day look like for you?

Up early. I can't sleep past 7am. My head starts spinning and I'm at the office 25 minutes later typically. I like to code and build features. I try my best to make sure I can do that as much as possible here. When I'm not working in code, I'm working to make sure the engineering team is running at high efficiency, that sometimes includes wrestling with others at the office to respect "wired-in" mode.

Why do you come to work in the morning?

You can only play Call of Duty for so many hours. Other than that, I'd say the team and working on building things that are seen by millions of people. Since I joined CampusLIVE, my work has been seen by over 2 million people and that is super cool to me.

What advice would you give someone who is interested in pursuing a similar line of work?

J.F.D.I. Sooooo many kids in college spend 100% of their time going wild and in class. My suggestion is to get out there and do something, anything, to learn about where you'd be happy after school. Doesn't make sense to me that people would spend 4 years happy as a clam in college and then 40 years hating their job and their bosses.

What is the best part of working at CampusLIVE?

Team. 100%.

What's the coolest thing you've accomplished thus far working at CampusLIVE?

Helping to put together a really fun and hard working group of people. I've been fortunate enough to learn a ton from the people here and I hope we continue to build an awesome team.
